Country Club of Peoria Golf Course is a Private 18 hole golf course located in Peoria, Illinois.
The Country Club of Peoria was founded in 1897 by a group of leaders who in an effort too, “encourage athletic exercises, recreation and social enjoymentâ€, leased 27 acres on Grandview Drive to form one of the nation’s first country clubs. During a visit to Peoria in 1910 President Theodore Roosevelt declared Grandview Drive as “the world’s most beautiful driveâ€. Situated in the midst of the breathtaking beauty that is Grandview Drive, the Country Club of Peoria offers its guests and members a panoramic view of the Illinois River.
The course was designed by F. M. Birks. In 2009 the courses was rennovated / redesigned by Mike Benkusky.
This old traditional course is very short, tight, and hilly. The fairways are tree lined, and the greens vary from small to medium in size.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,229 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,227 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 602 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 13, a par-3 that plays to 140 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 4, the 602 yard par-5 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 18, a 157 yard par-3.
